Perinatal Mental Health
Often referred to as the "Baby Blues", "Postpartum" or "Postpartum Depression" are 6 distinct Perinatal Mental Health Issues. One (1) in 5 moms/women will experience some form of depression or anxiety issue during or after pregnancy. Some women may even experience some form of trauma before, during or after a pregnancy.
Types of Perinatal/Postpartum Issues:
OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder)
The most common feelings that women describe when they come to me are sadness, worry, exhaustion, loss of interest in loved activities, disconnect from their baby or loved ones, frustration, not feeling like themselves, irritability, isolation, difficulty with sleep, changes in appetite and hopelessness.
I help women to better understand these feelings as well as give them a space to share without the worry of judgment. In therapy, I can help you to develop ways to deal with these feelings, so that you can get back to feeling like yourself again and so that you may have the life that you love.
I am a Certified Perinatal Mental Health Specialist (PMH-C) through Postpartum Support International. I am also trained in EMDR Therapy (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) w/ an emphasis in Perinatal/Postpartum Issues. I completed my training through the Institute for Creative Mindfulness (an EMDRIA approved program) and am working towards Certification through further education experience and clinical consultation.
